Position Title: Associate Research Scientist I – DOM-INTL (TS-R)

Summary/Purpose of Position:

The primary purpose of the Associate Research Scientist I – DOM-INTL is to be responsible for supporting both the technical service and core research needs of customers, fellow nutritionists and sales teams by utilizing knowledge, expertise, customer feedback and current research. This role will function within both the swine and poultry species with a strong emphasis on supporting domestic market needs initially while broadening to international market coverage for United. It will also focus on supporting our problem-solving approach with existing customers and ensure customer satisfaction by providing product quality information as well as analysis, research and results from research trials and other sources of credible information.

Primary Job Responsibilities/Duties, but not limited to the following:

  • Provide expert dual specie technical advice to sales, marketing and operation units; support sales team to achieve allocated sales target.
  • Support and work alongside other technical service team members on the education of sales (strategic account and territory) managers regarding nutrition outcomes and technology utilization in both the domestic US and international markets.
  • Construct and execute in vivo research projects as prioritized by UAH business units. Rev. 5/2020
  • Contribute actively to discussion of protocols, data, and project reports as a member of the UAH research team.
  • Assist in development of the Technical Services work plan, ensuring that sufficient resources are available both internally and externally to meet customers’ requirements.
  • Develop and conduct internal and external technical presentations to support sales and technical service
  • Provide feedback on market development and customer needs to steer innovative product development that maintains competitive advantage.
  • Manage product evaluation and development of assigned product category.
  • Prepare species business case and coordinate with marketing team to prepare sales tools & programs for successful achievement of required market share.
  • Assist research team to evaluate field trails, suggest product testing and product development.
  • Collaborate with other UAH researchers, product management and external scientists to execute research projects as needed.
  • Analyze data related to nutrition, feed ingredients, and diets as they relate to growth, performance, and cost.
  • Engage as a critical member of customer teams through relationship building, providing technical resources, coaching colleagues and collaborating on strategy. Attend scientific meetings and make presentations at such meetings as needed.

In order to apply for this position, the candidate must meet the following requirements:

Skill & Knowledge Requirements:

• 0-3 years professional experience in animal nutrition and animal research and/or

technical service roles Education Requirements:

• PhD in Animal Science or related field or equivalent professional experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to work both in office and farm environment

Specialized Job/Technical Knowledge:

  • Extensive knowledge of feed and livestock industries with proven track record of accomplishment in livestock production, health and animal nutrition.
  • Experience in applying nutritional knowledge in feed or feed ingredients is essential.
  • Good industry contacts and proven industry relationship.
  • Excellent knowledge of animal nutrition principles (swine and poultry)
  • Knowledge of customer business success factors to provide meaningful technical services
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office for presentation and statistical analysis purposes
