Summary/Purpose of Position:
The primary function or purpose of this position is to coordinate company-wide activities associated with day-to-day operation of the feed manufacturing group including oversight of activities associated with production (feed mills) and product delivery.  This position is also a member of the United Animal Health Operations and Supply Chain Management Team responsible for aligning and collaborating with peer teams and business units to jointly support United Animal Health customers.

Primary Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Coordinate and lead the day-to-day operations of the Feed Manufacturing Group while promoting a commitment to excellence in operations at all locations.
  • Evaluate, develop, and implement overall strategies for the feed manufacturing group that are aligned with other operational groups as well as the company strategy.
  • Assist Feed Mill Managers in developing and implementing specific strategies, plans, and protocols to address specific problems and leverage opportunities within their sites.
  • Set, maintain, and manage operating budgets and KPI’s to drive efficiency and service.
  • Coach, develop and lead employees as well as identify functional unit, staffing, and development needs.
  • Confer with team leaders in other areas such as CCS, Sales, Product Management, R&I, Finance, People Operations, and others to assure synergy among and between other company groups and divisions.
  • Coordinate and support QA/QC Regulatory Manager and EHS Specialist in complete compliance.
  • Develop employee awareness of sustainability and encourage creative sustainable practices within manufacturing operations.
  • Lead and work in conjunction with QA/QC Manager, Plant Managers, Production Supervisors, Transportation Supervisors, and Sales to develop, train, and implement biosecurity protocols to protect the interest of UAH and its customers.
  • Participate in industry association functions to expand network and stay abreast of trends.
  • Facilitate other projects and requests for assistance.

  • Evaluate and prioritize capital needs for feed mill area managers
  • Confer with Senior Leaders regarding opportunities, problems, and solutions

Typical Work Environment

  • Majority of work is conducted in a temperature-controlled office environment. A minor portion of the position will involve work in environments outside of the office, including mill and farm settings.
  • 20% to 40% of time will be spent in all United Animal Health facilities including customers and toll manufacturers as needed (including Superior Milling).

Minimum Job Qualification Requirements:

Education / Training:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Engineering, Animal Science, or other related field.

Relevant Job Experience:

  • 7-10 years professional experience in manufacturing operations or supply chain operations

Specialized Job / Technical Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of basic animal nutrition
  • Knowledge and some degree of experience with purchasing, manufacturing and logistics.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Regulatory, QA, Safety, and Biosecurity issues and their impact to UAH business operations.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 70 or more pounds periodically
  • Ability to climb heights when evaluating mill operations

  • Must understand safety implications to the company and employees.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and safety regulations
