Summary/Purpose of Position:
The primary function or purpose of this position is to be responsible for daily preventive maintenance, repair and evaluation of the feed mill’s physical structure, manufacturing equipment, utilities and infrastructure, in order to minimize plant down time.

Primary Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on process equipment and maintain the preventive maintenance work schedule as documented
  • Design & plan construction, remodeling & capital projects
  • Repair and replace worn or broken equipment as needed, in order to minimize plant downtime.
  • Maintain appropriate housekeeping inside and outside of facilities, maintain landscaping and appearance of the facility
  • Address any safety hazards immediately to assure employee safety; attend monthly safety meetings
  • Fabricate replacement parts when able
  • Purchase parts and equipment and maintain spare parts inventory
  • Maintain equipment files and equipment repair history
  • Assist with Production as needed

Additional Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
  • Keep shop and work area clean, along with other assigned housekeeping

Typical Work Environment

  • Majority of work is conducted in a non-temperature-controlled environment with noise and dust prevalent

Minimum Job Qualification Requirements:

Education/Training:

  • High School Degree or GED or equivalent professional experience
  • Mechanical trades training preferred

Relevant Job Experience:

  • 1 – 3 years professional experience in skilled trades, including mechanical and electrical repair
  • 1 – 3 years experience repairing equipment

Specialized Job/Technical Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of welding principles
  • Knowledge of electronics and mechanical repair concepts
  • Knowledge of how to operate a forklift
  • Knowledge of how mill equipment operates
  • Knowledge of electrical principles and concepts

Non-Technical Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Licenses/Certification:

  • Forklift license

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 75 lbs. or more periodically
  • Able to climb in open and confined spaces

  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment
