Hours of Operation:
Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM. This position includes some overtime hours and occasional Saturday work.
Position Summary:
Join United Animal Health in the mission to feed the animals that feed the world! As a Mill Operator I, you will play a pivotal role in our daily operations, operating mill equipment to craft premium-quality feed products. Your hands-on approach will involve proactive problem-solving to minimize production downtime and optimize overall business efficiency.
Core Responsibilities:
- Batch bulk ingredients, carefully following the QA manual for sequencing and flushing.
- Execute micro batch hand adds for mixers, ensuring precision in the manufacturing process.
- Maintain the warehouse by restocking and rotating site products and ingredients.
- Operate packaging and palletizing equipment for manufactured products.
- Skillfully handle mixing equipment to guarantee product consistency.
- Uphold facility cleanliness through housekeeping duties, including the resolution of broken bags.
- Conduct inventory control activities to ensure accurate accounting of various feed products.
- Receive incoming ingredients, managing rotation within the warehouse.
- Efficiently load outbound products onto semi-trailers and shipping containers for UAH customers.
- Contribute to preventative maintenance by greasing and repairing manufacturing equipment for optimal performance.
- Efficiently load, transport, and deliver feed to customer sites, ensuring precision in record-keeping and meticulous maintenance of the delivery truck.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualification:
Education / Training:
- High School degree, GED, or equivalent professional experience required to ensure the safe and efficient manufacturing, processing, packing, and handling of animal feed products.
Relevant Job Experience:
- 0 – 2 years of professional experience in a warehouse environment.
- 0 – 2 years of experience in a feed production environment.
Specialized Job / Technical Knowledge:
- Preferably proficient in forklift operation but will train onsite.
- Beneficial to have mechanical knowledge and prior experience.
- Knowledgeable in computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with inventory control and systems.
Non-Technical Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities, including space management.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain records.
Licenses / Certification:
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Majority of work is conducted in a feed production facility where temperature extremes are common and there is frequent exposure to dusty and noisy conditions.
- Work includes lifting (up to 60 lbs.), standing, walking, as well as occasional scooping, kneeling, or crouching.
Safety Requirements:
- Mandated use of company-issued uniform and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Adherence to all company safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference given to candidates with a Class A CDL or a strong desire to obtain a Class A CDL.
