Position Title: Feed Delivery Driver

Location: Sheridan, Indiana

Summary / Purpose of Position:
The primary function or purpose of this position is to load and deliver feed to customers of United Animal Health in a safe and timely manner.

Primary Job Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Driving to customer site to deliver feed
  • Loading feed truck in preparation for delivery
  • Unloading feed at customer site
  • Communication with salespersons, customers, and management
  • Completion of required paperwork (logsheets, feed orders, scale tickets, sample bags, sample charts, fuel sheets, physical forms, etc.)
  • Cleaning out and maintaining truck

Additional Job Responsibilities / Duties

  • Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
  • Follow all safety & DOT regulations
  • Communicate mechanical problems of truck and assure preventative maintenance done
  • Follow all biosecurity policies

Typical Work Environment

  • Majority of work is conducted in a partially temperature-controlled vehicle environment
  • Work is also done on customer sites with exposure to the elements (heat, cold, rain, snow, dust, noise, etc.) and in a non-temperature-controlled warehouse environment 

Minimum Job Qualification Requirements:
Please note that applicants must be 21 years of age or older to be considered for this position.

Education / Training:

  • High School Degree or GED
  • Class A CDL

Relevant Job Experience:

  • 2 – 4 years professional driving experience
  • 1 – 2 years delivery experience
  • Good MVR

Specialized Job / Technical Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and traffic laws
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical and repair principles
  • Knowledge of how to operate a forklift
  • Knowledge of how to use a road map and follow directions
  • Understand and apply loading and delivery procedures

Non-Technical Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to listen to customer concerns

Licenses / Certification:

  • Class A CDL
  • Forklift certification preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 60 lbs. or more regularly
  • Ability to work from heights and climb ladders
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time & maintain focus
  • Ability to do some shoveling and sweeping
  • Satisfy DOT physical certification requirements

Safety Requirements:

  • Dust mask, ear plugs, bump hats and safety goggles, as needed
  • Follow all company safety procedures and safety regulations
  • Follow all traffic, OSHA and DOT regulations
